More proof the 50s/60s was the weakest era in NBA history?

Check this out: http://m.bkref.com/m?p=XXplayoffsXXNBA_1961.html&t...

People wonder why Russell even won 11 rings? The ANSWER: He only played TWO playoff rounds. He would have to play a max of 14 GAMES! Whereas Jordan, Bird, Magic, Shaq, Hakeem, Kobe, Duncan, ect all the other great legends had to play 4 TEAMS and could play a max of 28 GAMES. There is no question the 50s/60s was the weakest era in NBA history. The Miami Heat, San Santonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, and Indiana Pacers would have already been NBA champs if they played in the 50s/60s. If anyone wants to argue and say there were less teams and more concentrated talent, then please click on this link where the BS is debunked: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am1S8...

If you still disagree, then you obviously never played a sport in high school. With more teams, you have to study more players, watch more tape, and adjust to different play styles. The players in the 50s/60s knew all of eachothers tendencies pretty well because they player eachother many more times.

90s > 80s > early 2,000s > mid-late 70s > 2013 (present) >>>>>> 50s, 60s, and early 70s

Update:

@Lee Everet no, Dwight is much better than Chris Andersen. Dwight is 6'11", 270 pounds of raw muscle, can jump very high, can pass from the post very well, and he rebounds great. Dwight Howard career stats: 18.3 ppg, 12.9 rpg, 1 spg, 2.2 bpg, and 57.7 fg%. He would be a bigger, stronger, and more athletic Bill Russell in the 50s/60s because both really didn't have an offensive game. He would get more rebounds do to more shots being attempted and his athletic advantage. Dwight is not better than Russell, but he would still be good in the 50s/60s.

I agree with what you said. The era was weak. But this doesn't take anything away from Russell'a greatness (just a few spots down the top player list) because he was better than all the competition and was ahead of his time. Same was Jordan was better than all of his competition. The league wasn't as advanced, yet Russell still dominated.

90's > 80's > 2000's > 2010-2013 > 70's > 60's and before. I agree with yours for the most part. I just think the LeBron, KD, Melo, D-Rose, and CP3 league is better than the one dominated by Kareem and Dr. J and pretty much nobody else too important if memory recalls correctly

BS... in '91 MJ had to win from Magic who just this much past his prime You had 4 top 10 centers in Hakeem, Shaq (was already dominating), Ewing and Robinson Stockton leader in steals and assists a long with Karl Malone. You had Payton+Kemp, Drexler, Barkley, Mullin, Hardaway, Pippen and many more in their primes. 90's was maybe the best defensive era, where the hell do you come up with this ish that it was weak. How can you say the guys were nothing compared to the talent in the 80s and 2000s?? especially the 2000s I mean Jordan dropped 51 at age what 39 or something? And there still wouldn't be much pit against Jordan.. who you got at the SG? kobe, he is VERY good but you saw what happened at late 1990's when he "couldn't hang" 6th ring for Jordan, where were Kobe+Shaq+Eddie Jones+ Nick van Exel Lakers?????????????????. And how can he in the "more talented" 2000s still be a Franchise player for the wizards in his very late 30's? You know what all those stars in the early 2000s that were in the NBA from '96 on maybe they were not known yet BECAUSE Jordan+Bulls were still dominating, ever thought of that? what ya got to say now huh????

I think if Russell played in the last 20 years he'd have game similar to Alonzo Mourning. Great rebounder/defender mediocre fg%

The size argument is overrated. Rodman is only 6'7 and one of the most tenacious rebounders and post defenders in history. He iced Malone twice without going to practice during 97/98 playoffs.
