How did you and your spouse agree on your house?

I'm curious as to your house buying experiences when it comes to compromising with your spouse on the house ya'll chose to buy. It seems like my husband and I just have way different taste. On paper when I write out what we want in a house it seems to mesh but then when I show him the houses I really like he hates them. There was one we agreed on but it was already sold and I agreed out of practicality not because I loved the house. Honestly anymore even looking at houses depresses me because I have wanted to own my own house for so long but I don't want to buy a house and have a mortgage for 30 years on a house I don't even like or a meh house. I want to love my house and I feel like any house I love then he hates =/

This is reelly hard to answer not knowing either ot you. I'd recomend getting a buyers broker and sit down with them so they know what your both looking for. Always remember if you pick a good basic house in a nice neighborhood things can easily be changed: kitchen, bath, flooring paint etc. A house becomes 'your' house as you live in it and change it to your liking. Also what you thought you wanted when you looked at the property will usually change after a few years. Remember, like they say, It's location, location, locatoin. for an extra $30 to $50 any house can be changed to you wouldn't recognize it.

You just have to keep looking. Eventually, one or both of you will adjust your requirements. I know this is really hard. Make sure to keep "location" at the top of the list, because a great house on a so-so street isn't good in the long run.
