When cycling which gives you a better workout? Standing up? Or Sitting Down?
I have recently started road biking on my mountain bike, I have been riding 40-50 miles most days and I have been trying to sit down as much as possible even on hills, and stay in a high gear. I have heard that sitting down uses more muscles and energy but I want to know for sure. So which uses more energy and works you harder? Standing Up or Sitting Down?

Standing on your bike allows more power into your calf and quad but you end up using more energy.
Sitting works your core muscles more and is more effective at climbing but you don't get as much power.
