Home pain relief for dog ears?
Okay, so the situation is hard to explain, and I don't want anyone to get the wrong Idea.
My mother in-law is the worst dog owner I have ever met. She also can't afford them. I watch these dogs 12 or more hours a day. I live with her and if I wasn't here, the dogs would be locked in there kennels for 20 hrs a day. (While she is at work and when she sleeps). They are never brushed and they never go for walks.
Anyway, so she decided to start babysitting one of her friends dogs while he studies for exams. (Which means I'm babysitting) and this dog has an ear infection or something wrong with his ears. My mother in law refuses to get him checked and he real owner says he has had it for a very long time. Basically, he walks with his head tilted and when he shakes his head he yelps. I see nothing though. No redness or pus. I would take him in myself but I can't afford it. It pains me to see these dogs treated the way they are and there is nothing I can do. We don't have anyone around here who recuses animals so unfortunately a home remedy is all I can do.
Does someone know what I can use for this dog's ear? Even if it's a pain reliever.
Unfortunately the closest shelter is a full hour drive from here. I have called the once a year ago and they said they couldn't take them because they don't have a driver to drive 60 minutes. I don't have my own vehicle so I can't take them. I called the vet and only said to bring him in but I can't. It really sucks and I feel so bad.
Clockwork
Good for you, but I already said I can't. These are not my dogs and you have no right to scold me for doing the best I can. There is nothing I can I do. It is because I don't have the time or money for a dog that personally don't have one. Maybe if you learned to read you would understand my situation. They are not excuses and you can call me lazy all you want. I stay home to look after my three kids and my mother inlaws dogs. I don't catch a break so I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

There are no home remedies. You don't know what is causing the dog to have such pain though you deserve good karma for your compassion for this poor creature. Since the dog's problem is long standing the poor thing probably has a ruptured ear drum by now.
The only thing you can do is appeal to the better nature of the owner of the dog and tell her that to deny vet treatment from a sick or injured dog is breaking the animal cruelty laws. However, I doubt this owner is a responsible owner or they would not have allowed your cruel mother in law to care for their dog.
There must be a responsible organisation somewhere near you. Report your mother in law for neglecting her animals.

None
The dog needs to take it to a vet. If your mother in law can't 'afford' the vet then the dog needs to be surrendered. She can afford the vet since she can afford the vet, the cell phone and cable. She doenst want to spend any money on the poor dog
There is plenty you can do, surrender it or take it to the vet but you won't do either and want free home remedies that won't work
So you are now using the excuse that the vet is too far off? I'd drive two hours to get to a vet rather then be lazy and let the dog suffer

I cured my sciatica with this natural treatment http://cure-sciatica.info/
Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication
I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.
I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

Well
I found many interesting info about sciatica here: http://curesciatica.toptips.org/
While looking for a miracle cure, it has to be understood that sciatica pain in itself is not a disease. It is actually a symptom or a group of symptoms with an underlying cause that needs to be targeted if some sort of permanent pain relief is what one is looking for. But one thing is absolutely clear. Incorporating a few exercises that have a beneficial effect on sciatica pain in daily regime is of great help and whether a patient is taking drugs or not, these exercises ensure that his muscles are kept in a toned condition that lessen any flare up of pain. Just a few stretching exercises can bring about a drastic change in the levels of pain and signify the importance of exercise in the management of sciatica pain.

Sorry only remedy is a vet, if it it can't be afforded then turn them in to a shelter where they will get the care needed and a home that will take proper care of them. They are innocent animals and should not be made to suffer.

please don't give the dog any medications with out the vet telling you so.
an ear infection would be red, inflamed, smelly, hot to the touch & have discharge either black & waxy or puss like .
maybe the dog has a ruptured ear drum?
or a growth in the canal?
there is nothing we can do or tell you except what you already know : vet.

There is one product that I have seen prescribed for both yeast and bacterial infections in the ears. Look for Zymox Otic. Apply that to the ears twice a day for 14 days. Massage it into the ear canals. It may work. I have had personal experience with this product on my own dog with ear infections, both yeast and bacteria. Look online or maybe a box pet store for the product. They sell a cleaner as well, which could be used for maintenance once the infection is better. Quite often you wouldn't be able to see the infection, etc. Vets use an otoscope to do that.
