Why do people think they are going to get recording contracts?

Question

People always believe that they can sing without taking professional lessons.
Why would a record company give you millions of dollars when all you do is day dream and you know nothing about professional recording ?
There is not a record executive alive who would give some stupid kid millions of dollars and they are totally dumb when it come to music .
You cannot fool record executives into believing that you can sing when they are trained musicians and have degrees in music .

If you watch garbage like American Idol and America's Got Talent then you are stupid enough to believe in anything .

actually. your wrong...i auditioned for the xfactor and they were SHOCKED i didnt have a voice coach...yes my dreams did come true...i made it all the way to boot camp...im coming back next year as a group...so yeah get your facts right...and stop tryna ruin someones dreams...if you have and amazing voice without training then that give everyone a shock and they want to know more about you and what interested you to sing....

Who among even the BEST singers around get "millions of dollars" in a recording contract?   Even in the best days of large corporate recording contracts, nobody, even established singers or bands got such a deal.   

The days of big contracts and free recording sessions for promising performers is long gone.  In case you haven't noticed, the recording industry has flattened out - there are very few big recording studios anymore, and the few that remain are mere skeletons of what they once were. 

There are some incredible singers on Idol and AGT - I'm not sure we're watching the same shows. 

Or is there more baggage in there that you're not owning up to?   Why do you care if there are people out there who think they can sing, but can't?
