Expiration date??????
I bought some celery yesterday, august 11th, and the expiration date says "sell by 08/09/13". In the USA we put the month before the day in dates so that means it expired 2 days before I got it. Do you think its still safe to eat?

If it is still nice and green, with few to no brown spots or dry patchy areas and as long as the stalks are still crisp, then it should be fine. If they are rubbery and you can bend them without the stalk snapping, then they are probably past due and I would throw them out. If the surface looks dry and shriveled or somewhat dimpled, then I would pass also.

Pull off a stalk, bend it in half and if it snaps, cut off the ends and eat it. If it nestles together in a "U", toss it.

If it looks and feel alright, then it should be alright. There is nothing to worry about.
