Best in-ear headphones for around $100?

I have a set of Bose In-ear headphones that have reached the end of their life (after many years of use) and I have been doing a lot of research to find the best replacement. I have read that the Bose ear buds are very overrated and that you are mostly paying for the name. I've read that you can get better sounding products for less money, therefore I am exploring other options. I always thought the Bose sounded great but I'm intrigued with what I've read. I listen to mostly classic rock at a standard iTunes 128kbps AAC file. I also stream Pandora quite frequently. I have read that high end headphones will not sound all that great playing these compressed formats so I'm looking for the right balance.

To sum it all up, this is what I'm looking for: Ear buds that deliver a better sound than the Bose IE headphones, sound great playing standard 128kbs AAC files, deliver a rich bass sound but not overpowering, deliver a crisp, clear, detailed sound, fit in the budget of $100. I hear that shure se215's are good, but have a muddy sound compared to others. Audiophiles, what is your recommendation?

Audiophiles don't touch ACC@128k, and Bose/Monters/Skull Candy/Beats aren't considered ever anyway. At that range, $10 and $1000 will sounds the same anyway. I'd suggest downloading your music from torrenting sites after you pay for them. VBR C0/320kbps are fine. More and its placebo. If you don't mind second hand, look for a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ear TripleFi.

New: Sony MH1C are pretty good. One of the best budget IEMs however, is the Philips SHE3580/3590. It can be found for under $15, and its magical.

Sennheiser is the most affordable QUALITY brand, other REPUTABLE brands include Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica. Indeed, Bose is WAY overrated and WAY overpriced.

Audio Technica is a respected brand that offers good earbuds around $75.
