I’ve been looking into solutions to cut cable. Roku seems like a pretty good alternative. I purchased the $50 Roku streaming stick but it definitely has its limitations such as no web browser. I’ve been looking into building a media PC but before spending the $500 I want to make sure I can do the following:

-Watch live, over the air tv and have access to a programming guide.

-Be able to record, pause and rewind live tv

-Be able to watch one show while recording another on a different channel.

-Be able to record one show while watching netflix through Windows Media Center

-Ensure the media center will support netflix, hulu plus and amazon instant

-Have access to a web browser

-Be able to rip movies from DVDs or BluRays and store them on my hard drive to watch later (it would also need to have a BluRay player)

-Be usable via remote

-Be accessible on additional TVs throughout th/e house (I have wifi)

I know this sounds like a lot to ask for but I’m trying to make the switch from cable as painless as possible! If anyone has any video tutorials for creating a media center that will fulfill ALL of these requirements please share! Thank you very much.

I have a set of Bose In-ear headphones that have reached the end of their life (after many years of use) and I have been doing a lot of research to find the best replacement. I have read that the Bose ear buds are very overrated and that you are mostly paying for the name. I've read that you can get better sounding products for less money, therefore I am exploring other options. I always thought the Bose sounded great but I'm intrigued with what I've read. I listen to mostly classic rock at a standard iTunes 128kbps AAC file. I also stream Pandora quite frequently. I have read that high end headphones will not sound all that great playing these compressed formats so I'm looking for the right balance.

To sum it all up, this is what I'm looking for: Ear buds that deliver a better sound than the Bose IE headphones, sound great playing standard 128kbs AAC files, deliver a rich bass sound but not overpowering, deliver a crisp, clear, detailed sound, fit in the budget of $100. I hear that shure se215's are good, but have a muddy sound compared to others. Audiophiles, what is your recommendation?

I'm a student trying to download maya 2011 on my macbook running mac os 10.5 (my mac is 3 yrs old and intel based). The program downloads fine but when I click the .dmg i get an error saying "nomountablesystems." Ive been trying for 5 days to correct the problem. Ive tried redownloading, downloading the 2012 version instead of 2011, downloading from another computer onto a flashdrive, re-installing diskimagemounter, using disk utility to try to repair the .dmg, downloading stuffit and trying to open the .dmg, and converting the .dmg to an ISO. Nothing works. I am able to download and mount other .dmg files so I know diskimagemounter isnt the problem. My classmates were able to download and install the program just fine, but for some reason I cant get the dmg to mount for the life of me. Any ideas on what the problem is or other things I can try?

We'd like it to something preferably small and discreet, like only we'd know about it or at least something thats subtle and doesnt like stand out or anything. Something small and simple would be great, but we have no idea what fits that description. Tattoos are not an option, we both agreed on that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm a windows user switching over to mac. The only thing that really drives me crazy about the mac so far is the fact that when you close the last open window of an application, the application itself does not close until you r-click it and click close, cmd-Q, force quit, etc. There must be a setting or line of code that will make the application close when its last window closes, like it traditionally does with windows. Does anyone know how to make this work? Thanks.

I just bought a macbook for college and it comes w/ a free ipod touch 8gb. I already have an MP3 player that I really like so I'm thinking about selling the iPod brand new, unopened, and putting the money towards paying off the laptop. Any reccomendations?

What's an easy way to memorize the notes of a bass? Like how can I memorize what frets go to what notes?

Does anyone know of any good books to easily learn how to play the bass? I just bought a bass and I really want to learn it but I know nothing about it. I already know how to read music but I really want to learn how to play by ear. Any suggestions? Thanks.

My gf broke up w/ me about 5 months ago but I'm still not over her. She was my 1st gf and I haven't had 1 since her. (I don't want anyone but her either) She really didn't hav a good reason 4 breaking up w/ me but we said we still wanted 2 be friends. That didn't really happen and now we haven’t talked in at least 4 months. We see each other at school all the time but we never say anything 2 each other. I really miss her and I’ve tried but I just can’t get over her. Any suggestions on getting her back? How am I supposed 2 just start tlking 2 her after ignoing each other the past 4 months? Thanks.
