Why is paranormal a subject here ?
Why does Yahoo have a paranormal section under "Science and Mathematics" ? It belongs under a different heading perhaps, "Stupidity of The Masses". Can you think of a good heading the topic could be under so people who buy into un-scientific garbage won't confuse real science with woo woo stupidity ?

Depends on how you define paranormal----What we CALL "Paranormal" is the real phenomena that our present day Science has not discovered or cannot explain YET. We do not know EVERYTHING yet do we?
Man has ALWAYS attributed stuff he could not explain at any given time to the actions of "spirits", "Demons, " or "gods", etc. Lightning and electricity was considered "paranormal" before Ben Franklin defined it.
What we call "Paranormal today is likely rooted in aspects of Modern Physics that we are only just beginning to understand. Space time, Parallel Universes, quantum mechanics, and natural "glitches" in such systems would look exactly like what we CALL "paranormal" today.
Do not confuse the actual phenomena with the Traditional "Folk explanations' for this stuff. A "Wormhole" or "Einstein -Rosen Bridge, connecting different time frames would let us see LIVING people in the past, and would explain other aspects of what we would CALL "a ghost" for example, clothing and inanimate "ghosts"-----That "The phenomena we call "ghosts" are actual "Spirits of the dead" is only the FOLK EXPLANATION for the observed observation rather than the observed phenomena itself.
Hey, its the Twenty first Century, not the late 19th--- The "hard edged", "solid","Classic Physics" does not cut it anymore.
Flexible space time, parallel universe interactions and quantum potential fields, can theoretically produce all of the observed effects of what we CALL "paranormal Phenomena" today. People just need to know what the REAL phenomena actually looks like , and not subscribe to the old "folk explanations and superstitions associated with them.

I am a very logical person who always looks for a logical/scientific approach.
I have had my share of experiences with what you call "woo woo stupidity". I can't explain it, and I wish I could. But I can't.
So I am trying to find an explanation.
I believe that the paranormal is a scientific thing. Something we just can't explain at this time.
Be careful with your wording please. Some of us actually have experienced things to have a valid opinion on what's "woo woo stupidity" or not.
The heading is exactly what it needs to be. The world doesn't revolve around you. Boo hoo, you don't think the paranormal is real so you think it shouldn't be in this section. Rather an offensively titled one because you deem it "stupid."
Get over yourself.

Because the study of ANY phenomena is what science is about. 500 years ago, astronomy was "paranormal". The problem with people like you is you think that mankind has discovered all the physical laws controlling our reality. We are not even close. Most of what is considered paranormal is just the lack of our ability to understand our universe. Ten years ago anyone who mentioned matter that we have no been able to see would have been laughed out of science. Now it is common to research dark matter. And stop your arrogant self centered view that you are the epitome of intelligence.

BECAUSE it is ment to discuss the PSYCHOLOGY behind paranormal believers and the Social and Psychological Issues these beleifes or lack there OF bring up in science... IT is instead used to discuss those beliefs... IE its being miss used not miss catagorized..... its a psychology issue.

So that when people claim to have seen a ghost or whatever the more rationally minded can give a scientific explanation, such as they were more likely dreaming or hallucinating.
It's a lot of fun here, frustrating but fun.
