Would you make your Cup series debut at Bristol?

Ryan Truex is planning on racing in the Bristol Cup race. His first Cup series race. Nothing like jumping right in the deep end is there? First he has to qualify, though. Do you think that's a good track to try and make your first start on? Which track would you go to? I think I'd go to Charlotte or Atlanta, some place I can put laps in without getting in the way.

    Not for a first race

Ryan has ran some races and has some experience

I would if I was to race make my debut on a cookie cutter track or a 1.5 mile track

Considering most drivers have done a lot of short track racing before jumping to the Cup level, it's better than making a debut at one of the high-speed tracks or a road course. I would probably have chosen Richmond over Bristol.

  • Trevor Bayne made his Nationwide debut at Bristol, but that's a whole different game I guess. He's a hometown boy to Bristol besides (Knoxville his hometown's, like an hour and a half away). I don't know Ryan Truex's record at Bristol. Has he ever Nationwide raced at Bristol? Unless yes, he shouldn't do it. He should wait 'til Richmond. I'd debut at Atlanta or Richmond, somewhere like that.

If I had to make my Cup debut at a short track, I would rather start at Richmond. Bristol is too dangerous in my opinion for a debut. If I got to choose any track, I would choose Auto Club, Michigan, or the July Daytona race, because there is more pressure on every driver for the Daytona 500

I'm going with a couple of others.

Guys that have raced 1/2 mile short tracks their whole

career, are only going to learn the car.

If you start at Charlotte, you are going to have to learn a

speedway, and a completely different type of car...

    Doesn't make any sense.

Richmond would be a good choice as well.

"HE HAS TO QUALIFY FIRST" That will be his first exam....then he will jump into the final exam with out ever seeing a text book. I think he shall call the Bristol Race???? School of HARD KNOCKS!.

But I will say this; if he qualifies on speed...then he deserves a chance at the race track.

Wow, Bristol is a terrible track to start. I would prefer Degga or Daytona. Vegas would be a good starter track too.

I wouldn't get into my first bull fight in a small ring like Bristol.

Maybe Charlotte in a daytime race not a transitional to night. Maybe he should have thought about it last week at Michigan. Great track there to start.

These guys raced their whole life, you race too! Its just another race, You know the drill guy, let the competition or track get in your head you lost before you even started. I raced against world champions and I never let that get to me. In my head it was just another race!

Bristol wouldn't be my first choice. But everyone knows how hard it is, so everyone would be grading him accordingly. I would probably debut on whatever track someone first gave me the opportunity.
