Can I receive unemployment if ?
I didn't show up to work because I had a mental health break down. I am a vet with ptsd. I text my boss the first day I missed that evening and then the next morning because I hadn't been released. I know for a fact he received them because the iPhone read receipt. I got fired though for job abandonment even with my hospital excuse. I live in Texas by the way. And my job knew it was a pre existing condition.
Unemployment is something you pay into. It's not from someone else's tax money. That's why it you don't work you won't receive it.

No harm in filing, in case the company wants to be nice to you, but you aren't really qualified to get it.
Call your local VA and ask for assistance in making the claim.

An employer does not have to honor your doctors excuse
File and see what happens, you will have an appeal process in front of a judge if the state denies you

unless you are covered under FMLA you can be fired for doing a no show even with a doctors excuse.
