Do you support higher taxes to pay for the bigger government promised by ObamaCare?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called ObamaCare or the Affordable Care Act (ACA), is a United States federal statute signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. Together with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, it represents the most significant regulatory overhaul of the country's healthcare system since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965.

The ACA aims to increase the quality and affordability of health insurance, lower the uninsured rate by expanding public and private insurance coverage, and reduce the costs of health care for individuals and the government. It provides a number of mechanisms—including mandates, subsidies, and insurance exchanges—to increase coverage and affordability. The law also requires insurance companies to cover all applicants within new minimum standards and offer the same rates regardless of pre-existing conditions or sex. Additional reforms aim to reduce costs and improve healthcare outcomes by shifting the system towards quality over quantity through increased competition, regulation, and incentives to streamline the delivery of health care. The Congressional Budget Office projected that the ACA will lower both future deficits and Medicare spending.

On June 28, 2012, the United States Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of most of the ACA in the case National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius. However, the Court held that states cannot be forced to participate in the ACA's Medicaid expansion under penalty of losing their current Medicaid funding. Since the ruling, the law and its implementation have continued to face challenges in Congress, in federal courts, and from some state governments.

ObamaCare, formally known as "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act," will impose massive penalties on young workers, small businesses and others who choose not to buy expensive health insurance, beginning in 2014. ObamaCare is the biggest handout by liberals to a single interest group — the health insurance industry — in American history. Even Democratic Senator Webb recently admitted: ObamaCare "cost Obama a lot of credibility as a leader." On June 28, 2012, the Supreme Court of the United States upheld the constitutionality of ObamaCare — by only one vote, 5-4 — as being within the taxing power of the federal government. Since then, leading Democrats have described ObamaCare as a "train wreck," and unions increasingly agree with conservatives that ObamaCare should be repealed.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) pointed out that there are no redeeming provisions of Obama's health care plan. AAPS observes that Obama's health care plan will significantly increase the overall cost of health care for a majority of United States citizens, plus reduce the quality of care that a free market system would otherwise provide. ObamaCare will soon cause havoc and harm to tens of millions of Americans: 28 million Americans will be caught in a "massive game of health coverage pingpong" due to ObamaCare.

ObamaCare is itself little more than a massive tax hike, with a cost of $1 trillion. Do you support higher taxes to pay for the bigger government promised by ObamaCare?

Update:

Health care is the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well being; however, health insurance is insurance against the risk of incurring medical expenses among individuals. Anyone who says I do not know the difference between the two are saying that probably because they do not like my knowledge on this subject or the question or the way I word it.

No I do not support raising taxes for more government (useless spending). I am responsible for myself and my family and don't need obamacare to give me lesser care for my family.

The average middle class family doesn't need to shell out any more money in useless programs. They are already making less money than they have in the past and any more decreases in their income due to higher taxes will only hurt the middle class more than any one else. If Obama really cared about the middle class, he would focus on cutting spending and finding where money is being used foolishly rather than cause more financial stress to those that are working their butts off just to make ends meet.

Funny about 8 or 10 years ago we, as a family, could afford to go on a decent pretty good vacation - say take a plane ride and spend a week in Disney, go to a resort for a week or similar. Now due to the horrible economy, my husband losing a job and now working for less money, my net pay decreasing due to increases in taxes and health insurance - I now net less even though my gross salary has gone up. We can only afford vacations like driving to a campground or going away for a long weekend - we can't afford a plane ride. Our lifestyle has decreased significantly.

So - do you think increasing taxes and health care is helping?

The 'government' will be the same size. You as an individual will never notice any difference except that more people will have HEALTH INSURANCE. True, HEALTH INSURANCE may cost more, but the cost of HEALTH CARE goes up as the science and technology of medicine moves forward. The best way to deal with this would be MEDICARE for ALL. All private HEALTH INSURANCE companies do is add to the cost. Basically the person who posted this 'question' doesn't know the difference between HEALTH CARE and HEALTH INSURANCE. It's not even worth while attempting to explain this as being anti Obama is now a religion.

    - I believe we need to help people who have actually tried to help their community move forward. Not people who free load and have given their community a bad name.

-I don't think Obamacare is what it seems because it is thousands of pages long and i and almost grantee there are some things the US people will not approve.

    - and i do not care for a bigger government. I am a honest person trying to move forward and it sucks that our government does not trust us .. the people who pay them.

    - I will not live anywhere else and ditch this country like others have who were american because i see people who in far worse situation then me. But i honeslty think we are not going to see anything change until we get rid of this administration because they do not convict criminals .. litterlay thousands of people are guilty and walking free .. God Bless America

You didnt say what taxes are being increased. Do you mean 2% tax on medical device manufacturers? Most of us are not medical device manufacturers. Or, do you mean the 3.9% income tax increase on income over $450,000 ? Not sure which one you mean.

Unlike conservatives like you, the PPACA is good.
