If you dont see a doctor much, get a high deductible, low premium insurance to comply with the law. It IS the law. It saves the government billions in ER uninsured peoples care. Thats why it had to be implemented. You are forced to do a lot of things by the government. Why question this one, it is something that benefits us all. What if you break a leg, or need treatment, even a young person? Go to the ER and never pay the bill? That is the problem.
Insurance is something that exists in CASE you need it. Like Social Security. That is insurance you must pay every paycheck. It is there in case you get disabled, divorced, or die. The federal govt. has a duty to protect citizens, not let everyone do as they please. You are a member of a society, you dont live in a planet alone.
The problem is, in our current private health insurance system, in order to reduce the cost for old, sick people, the system needs young, healthy participants. I am sorry but we all live in the same country and must all help out for the common good. That is in the constitution.

It's the lack of a choice that bothers me, more than anything else. Look, if I don't want to pay auto insurance, there is NO law that says I have to drive a car. I can ride a bus, or take a cab. I have options. I have the freedom to choose. But, a MANDATORY law, demanding I have medical insurance, whether I can afford it or not, I have no options. I HAVE no freedom of choice. Well, the option to LIVING is pretty extreme. So, basically, even though I have always paid for ALL of my own medical needs---out of my own pocket---I'm not " paying my fair share." I live on an extremely limited monthly income. The government would probably say I live in poverty. So, I just have to ask, why do I have to pay the medical insurance for a person who won't even TRY to work? Something smells really fishy. And, it isn't fish. But, it sure stinks.

Better you pay for your health care than me. Universal Health Care is the way to go. Everyone pays, everyone is covered.

I agree and this is the most intrusive law regarding privacy ever.
Isn't this what abortion was passed on Privacy. Then Obamacare should be repealed based on privacy because of the requirements of this law the government will know EVERYTHING about you , it will be on hard drive and accessible to anyone with access to the data base.

Good point! Libbies cant use the excuse that taxpayers pick up the bill when you are not insured because they are mad at republicans who simply dont want abortion federally funded. Yet another libbie inconsistency
