What has happened to Cartoon Network these days?

Hey guys, I was born in 1994 and I remember the good ol' days of cartoon network. I haven't watched it in years, so I did that and, well, I was surprised.

Gumball

MAD

Adventure Time (I know everyone likes it, but me myself am not a big fan of it)

Uncle Grandpa (WOW)

Ninjago

Beyblade

The Looney Tunes Show

Teen Titans Go (ditch this for the old teen titans)

Almost Naked Animals

trust me there's more. The only good stuff watching is family guy and robot chicken but that's really adult swim and won't count. I don't mean to offend you, but this isn't the cartoon network I grew up with. And there letting live action on the channel?!?! WTF?!?!

Did you try watching at night? They recently brought Toonami back.

Actually a lot of people would disagree with you that the shows lately have been a lot better than the shows before. I personal think these shows are different. I find Adventure TIme to be very funny, with a lot of subtle depth for the adults to pick up on. Its a very creative and different show from most every other cartoon I've ever seen, so I'm happy to have it around.

I agree, shows like GUmball are hilarious, but only once since the rely on shock factor to emerse you. All the same its a fun show, but its demographic is much less diverse.

As for the Looney Tunes Show, I actually think of it as a special gem. SO many people say 'you've ruined the old shows". But I don't think that's possible. I mean, the old shows were limited to literally braking physics and torchering the characters bodies, this show is different it appeals to a wide demographic and I feel many of the jokes are aimed at adults, which I enjoyed profusely. It reminds me of an old classic, Rocko's Modern Life, which was littered with so much hilarious humor for kids and adults who'd sit with them.

Teen Titans Go is a bit of a shock at first for old Teen Titan fans, however, the demographic IS old Teen Titans fans. I think only a fan of the show would be able to appreciate all the differences in character and the jokes. Personally I find the show to be funny, but at times a little to far out there when compared to the source material. In the end, I think its worth the watch when you have the time. It's purpose is to make you laugh and I'd have to say, for me at least, it succeeds.

I can't and won't defend shows like MAD, Ninjago, Bayblade, or Almost Naked Animals, because I don't actually watch those shows, and the few times I may have caught them, I disliked them.

I was also born a little before you were, so I've seen many of the same shows you've seen I'm sure. I grew up with things from Inuyasha, to Ren and Stimpy, to DBZ and Hey Arnold and all that stuff. I've seen it all.

Personally, I think that the overall feeling of most of these shows has changed. The culture has changed radically over the past few years and with it the main audience has changed as well. People want instant satisfaction, randomization, fast past plots and even faster punch lines. I think if you examine each new generation of show with an open mind you'll find a lot has changed, but a lot has stayed the same, and with each change comes a new opportunity for something interesting.

Old things might have been better, new things might be better. It's all a matter of opinion. But if things stayed the same, I assure you, you'd grow board of Cartoon Network all together. So, if you can't enjoy the shows now, wait a while, there might be better ones for you later.

I've been dealing with this since about 2007. You're lucky not to have had to suffer for all those years and to only have just noticed it, I guess, but that's probably little solace.

It definitely won't be offensive to users who are the same basic age as you to say the channel is worse, in my experience. There are YouTube videos, other Y!A questions, and other websites dedicated to this subject. You're the 3rd one in the last day or two that I've seen post a "what happened to Cartoon Network" type question on Y!A.

I don't really know why, but definitely they cancelled everything good on that channel, and started playing shows that aren't the same as they used to be. Sometimes their new shows are live action, which completely violates the channel's original purpose.

The best we've got now is watching "Cartoon Planet" (on Fridays at 8 PST), where they play single episodes of the classic shows, but they mix in new stuff with those episodes as well, which for me defeats the purpose of watching.

Yeah, whatever happened to old school toonami.

I remember how sad I was watching like the very last broadcast of that. Yu Yu Hakusho, DBZ, Code Lyoko, Big O, Outlaw Star. God, I grew up on that stuff.

I was also born in 1994 and I don't see a problem with it. You can't honestly expect them to show the same shows forever, can you? Kids these days are different, and they're going to like different things. Also, Adventure time and Regular Show are pretty good, and I'd rather see them than even some 90s shows. We're no longer a part of Cartoon Network's target demographic, we really have no room to complain. We got our shows, and now it's this generation's turn.

I've a younger brother watching these cartoons so I've actually been forced to watch them.

Yes, I'll agree, they're nowhere as near as cool as the cartoons from our childhood but for the children of this generations, this is their childhood. These cartoons are as special to them as our old school ones are to us. Simple.
