Why would Harvard University print this?

The study found no evidence to suggest that the availability of guns contributes to higher murder rates anywhere in the world. ”Of course, it may be speculated that murder rates around the world would be higher if guns were more available. But there is simply no evidence to support this.”

There are essentially two sentences here. The first states research results. The second indicates that you can CHOOSE to reject these findings ("it may be speculated") but the evidence does not support your position.

    This makes perfect sense.

Didn't read the link, but part of what universities do is to encourage research and then publish the results. Sounds like that's what they've done.

Probably because it's true. Why don't you read the paper to understand why. Of course you won't read it because it doesn't support what you already believe.
