Why are Girls so mean to each other?

So i have seen it and been told by female Friends and family that girls look at each other in a judgemental way. I as a guy will look at a girl in a complimentary way, like yeah she is nice. 

In an argument guys throw creative insults at each other then sometimes they fight and after the fight is over we move on. if we fight with our friends (which is extremely rare) during the fight we both well be like come on bro this is silly... to the pub for some mango juice 

When Girls fight, WOW! they go all in, things from the past is brought up, history and reputation. insults about anything and everything, when they fight they fight. after they fight they don't move on insult are still being thrown and then they try to turn other people against the foe. If it was friends then most often then not the friendship is over.

I went to an all girls' high school and that pretty much summed up my 5 years there. It was horrible.

The first year was fine but after that, "boys", "drinking" and "parties" entered the picture and girls just turned into full on b..itchy/manipulative/jealous-mode.

Obviously not all girls are like this but a lot are and I think it's all because of immaturity mixed with envy and self-consciousness. Girls are constantly competing against one another, they're always comparing themselves to other girls, or always judging each other (again, not all). Guys think that girls get all doll'd up for them but in reality they do it for that and also to "compete" with one another. I.e. they try to outshine one another.

When I was in my 2nd year at high school, my bestfriend suddenly stopped talking to me at school because I never wanted to go to parties with her or drink alcohol with her (I preferred to chill at home on the PS2 or hang with my family, I'm 22 now and I still don't drink alcohol because I just don't like it) and she actually never made ammends with me after that. I had to make new friends because she turned all our other friends against me. It was so stupid and pathetic, I felt sorry for her. She used to be cool and arty like me but then she changed when her parents got a divorce.

So yeah, maybe girls who are mean have something going on in their personal lives and they act like this because it's a distraction for them? I dont know, but good question though.

I'm a girl and it's a mystery to me too. I went to an all girls school and that was a savage experience, girls can be much worse than boys. For some reason girls are in constant competition with each other, and I think jealousy has a lot to do with it.
