Monotheists: how can you prove that yours is the only god?

After all, it's very difficult to prove a negative. How do you know that there are not millions of gods? Remember that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence...

In my opinion, if there is deity -- it is more logical that there is a single deity rather than multiple deities.

Why? -- because the world works on an integrated system of laws.

If there were a multiplicity of gods, then, much like in the Greek and Assyrian stories, the gods would come disagreements or simply fail to coordinate -- and therefore rational integrated scientific rules would not be possible.

It's not that hard to prove a negative. I can prove no married bachelor exists.

Now how do I prove that my God is the only God? Well, I am a Christian, and I believe the evidence for the resurrection of JC proves that, and this evidence is largely historical. After all, historians who deny the resurrection have some explaining to do. There are historical facts that are recognized by the vast majority of ancient historian that when put together are thoroughly explained only by the resurrection hypothesis. I suggest you read the numerous books and peer reviewed articles that have been written on the topic (I suggest the writings of NT Wright for example, a leading ancient historian). You see, if JC rose from the dead, then the Christian God exists and Christianity is the only true religion.

    Science and logic

People often overlook the fact that monotheism and polytheism share a huge difference. In polytheism, the various gods are often viewed as literally being a part of the natural world--for example, Poseidon the god of water. They were developed by pre-scientific people who needed a way to explain the natural world. Now that we have science and understand the natural world, we can dismiss polytheism as being outdated.

Monotheism on the other hand doesn't state that God is a part of the natural world--which is scientifically incompatible and outdated--but merely states that God CREATED the natural world, just as Henry Ford created the assembly line for manufacturing automobiles. Contrary to impeding upon science like polytheism, it offers an answer to the existential question if "WHY are we here?"

The food and hygiene laws written in the Book of Leviticus 3500 years ago can now be proven to have been based all this time on the germ theory of disease and the modern human body. Scientific knowledge no human on earth possessed at that time for these advanced laws to have originated from. That means they had to originate from a non human scientific mind 3500 years ago. This scripture is quoting this non human scientist speaking and teaching these new strange laws to a human named Moses. We have given the name of that non human the God Yahweh. The contents of this scripture is unique to only one God and no other god or gods and that God is Yahweh. You can find this scripture in the Jewish Torah, The Bible and The Dead Sea Scrolls. The food laws in The Quran are very similar but The Quran does not have scripture that is directly quoting the God of Abraham speaking and teaching these laws to Moses.

I will leave that in His hands. When the set time has come surely you will know the one true God to be the One as He has been saying for a few thousand years now[I AM that I AM]. At that time there will be no surprise in my eyes, yours however, idk.

It does seem to me however that "Death to America!" the battle-cry of the islamic nations, which happens to be the nations of the people listed in Psalm83:5-8 will be fulfillment of Revelation17:16 where a 'beast' will destroy a 'harlot' nation, a nation which has forsaken the Lord named 'Mystery' Babylon. A 'Mystery'; no one seems to be able to figure it out. 'Babylon' was a nation of old given a 70 year dominion of the world at that time[580'sBC] which held the Israelites 'captive'. God did say He would 'bring again' the 'captivity' and: voila! 1948AD, so the 'Mystery' falls in 2018AD - 5 YEARS!!! bro -

Just like Babylon of old - to the Persians!, that's who Iran is, in case you were unaware.

So if there were no 'God of the Hebrews' How the f**k did all this happen?

    To my satisfaction - yes.

You have to keep in mind most of the millions of gods you mention are gone now or at least have no followers. Many of them were demigods as such the believers felt that the affects were local.

There has to be something about the Jewish God, after all even the kings of Babylon sent sacrifices to that temple.

If you happen to study other religions (both mono-theist and others) you will find that the Christian faith is about the only ones with a promise of life in the here after. Others talk about a maybe, reincarnation and eventual Nirvana. But with Christianity- there is a clear path!

But the next question we must tackle is this: if an eternal Creator exists (and we have shown that He does), what kind of Creator is He? Can we infer things about Him from what He created? In other words, can we understand the cause by its effects? The answer to this is yes, we can, with the following characteristics being surmised:

    • He must be supernatural in nature (as He created time and space). • He must be powerful (exceedingly). • He must be eternal (self-existent). • He must be omnipresent (He created space and is not limited by it). • He must be timeless and changeless (He created time). • He must be immaterial because He transcends space/physical. • He must be personal (the impersonal cannot create personality). • He must be infinite and singular as you cannot have two infinites. • He must be diverse yet have unity as unity and diversity exist in nature. • He must be intelligent (supremely). Only cognitive being can produce cognitive being. • He must be purposeful as He deliberately created everything. • He must be moral (no moral law can be had without a giver). • He must be caring (or no moral laws would have been given).

These things being true, we now ask if any religion in the world describes such a Creator. The answer to this is yes: the God of the Bible fits this profile perfectly. He is supernatural (Genesis 1:1), powerful (Jeremiah 32:17), eternal (Psalm 90:2), omnipresent (Psalm 139:7), timeless/changeless (Malachi 3:6), immaterial (John 5:24), personal (Genesis 3:9), necessary (Colossians 1:17), infinite/singular (Jeremiah 23:24, Deuteronomy 6:4), diverse yet with unity (Matthew 28:19), intelligent (Psalm 147:4-5), purposeful (Jeremiah 29:11), moral (Daniel 9:14), and caring (1 Peter 5:6-7).

even if i were still a baptist or a methodist, i would say we all worship the same God, and that Jesus christ is the Messiah, prophesied by the jews and the prophets and patriarchs.

  • Theists arrogantly disregard past "religions" even though people truly believed in those gods and even constructed enormous monuments in their honor.

They only believe what they do because they live in the present and thats the most popular religion where they come from.
