How can I go back to college?
I want to go back to college to major in English Education. I don't have any money, and my GPA was about a 1.7 - 1.9. According to the criteria for housing, I have to have at least a 2.0 for live on campus and the school I went to is about an hour and a half drive away and I have no every day transportation to go there.
I lived on campus simply on taking up a loan. I believe it was 2400 a semester and I had two semesters. It was just a couple of months ago that I was in college but apparently my GPA is too low. I can't seem to find a job and I have no way of paying to go back to school. I would take up a different loan to go back to school, but since I already have one loan to pay off, I was advised not to take another one.

DO NOT take out another loan unless you are 100% CERTAIN you will graduate and be able to pay back your loans. How many unemployed English teachers are there in your state? I'll bet there's a lot! I teach high school biology. At our school, we had over 300 applicants for one high school English teaching position. English is one of the hardest teaching jobs to get because there is so much competition. If your GPA does not improve significantly, not only will you have a hard time staying in school, but after you graduate, you will have a hard time finding a teaching job, and you may not be able to pay off your student loans. I know many people whose lives have been ruined by student loans!
If you are certain you are ready to go back to school and really apply yourself, I would also suggest looking into community colleges or technical schools. Frankly, community colleges are usually a much better value than 4-year universities. Consider enrolling in a certification program that will train to do a specific job, spend a couple of years working, saving up and paying off current student debt. THEN, if you still want to do a 4-year degree, you will be in a much better position to do so. Not only will you have some financial stability, but you will also have much-needed work experience. Part of the reason so many college grads are unemployed is because they lack work experience. Getting a college degree may not help you get a job, and it will probably get you into a whole lot of debt. Experience is key. If you can not afford college now and can not find a job, consider moving to some place where the job market is better.

You have a couple of problems facing you. Here are some possible solutions:
1. No money - If you can't get a job then start your own business. Decide what skills you have that someone would be willing to pay for, then start marketing those skills. Be willing to do work for people that they don't want to do for themselves or that they are unable to do for themselves.
2. Low GPA - take classes at a community college while you are working and living where you are now. See if you can take online classes to keep your transportation costs low. Earn high grades.
