Why is my snail just lying on the rocks?

We got a black mystery snail to put in with our betta. I see him move and eat, but he is usually just lying on the bottom of the tank. He often is lying on his shell with his soft bottom exposed, but he does get out of this position on his own. I have another tank with tetras and shrimp, two sunshine snails, and a large mystery snail, they don't do this. We got the two mystery smails from the same pet store tank.

Any ideas?

PS. I do put algae wafers in the betta tank periodically (at night so the betta doesn't eat it).

Update:

It's a 5 gallon tank, just him and the betta. There's a heater and filter too.

Could be sick. Let it be and watch it. You can also call the vet or your LFS and ask them about this. Fish shops usually have fish vets.
