What's so sexist about the song Blurred Lines?

I don't get it. I've heard feminists say that it's a bad song and it justifies rape or something. When I look at the lyrics for the song, I can't read anything at all that would justify rape. Sure, the B word to describe the woman isn't appropriate but that's the only thing I can understand. And yeah, so the video shows women parading around with their b00bs showing. I thought feminists were trying to get t0pl3ss equality in the first place? I don't get it.

Please (without using the video), show me the lyrics in which it's talking about raping a woman or it's being sexist.

Update:

@ABC: Actually, I think it glorifies date S3X.

@Matthew: Well isn't the *** already split in two in the first place? So perhaps he's saying he's going to make the woman so h0rny that her *** will harden or 3r3ct (or something).

Update 2:

@May: Yeah, I been watched the video. that's why I'm trying to understand what's wrong with the song blurred lines. nothing in the lyrics even makes the song artists sound like bigots or anything. I think the feminists who made that parody are only trying to get attention.

It was also quoted in the song "you're far from plastic" which I think goes against what the feminist parody says about what the media shows women to be. Obviously, the feminists who made that song weren't paying attention.

Update 3:

@May: Yeah, I can tell you're a very extreme feminist because every single lyrics you just quoted was intentionally misinterpreted.

How many times have I heard businesses use the words "I know you want it" in their commercials or advertisements? Plenty of times. It's obvious he wasn't talking about I know you want rape. He was talking about how he has a big ego and, just like other modern music male singers, he's singing about how big he wishes his genitals were. On the other hand, he could have also been talking about a relationship and saying I know you want to be with me.

"He was close, tried to domesticate you, but you're an animal, it's in your nature, let me liberate you." If you actually read these lyrics, you'll figure out it says nothing about rape. Let me explain: he was close, he tried to domesticate you. This means some guy was trying to treat the woman wrong. HOWEVER, (just like any animal does when it doesn't want to

    So the lyrics say:

1- “I know you want it” and "these blurred lines" : these two sentences together makes you question the song. What is a "blurred line"? is it a line between consent and non-consent? Also I wonder how many rape victims have been told “I know you want it” and know are forced to hear the words again in “sexy” pop song.... along with "but you are a good girl"

2- "he was close, tried to domesticate you

But you're an animal, baby, it's in your nature

Just let me liberate you"....Is he telling her that she will want sex even if her mind says no because sex is instinct and so rape is ok? Also What is it with "domesticate you,you are an animal" What does that mean? Doesn't sound sexy to me

3-"Do it like it hurt, like it hurt"...ummm

Yea I'm disgusted by his lyrics and stupid video...It promotes "rape".

Source(s): This parody explains it all

At one point, T.I says "I'll give you something big enough to split your *** in two". Not relating to rape but that's a fairly horrid thing to say and incredibly stupid considering it's a music video

  • Nothing. It is about breaking taboo's regarding sex and peoples inhibitions that they have grown up with due to religious and cultural victorian disapproval and prudishness that many people still have in their psyche today. Oh... tut, tut, girls mustn't do such things, so lets call it sexism.

    I know you want it,

    I know you want it,

My favorite part, and the tune & rythem.

    What's sexy? -the whole song.
