How to heal a sprained foot?

Heya guys. I had rugby practice today and unfortunately I got myself into a bit of a hassle.

I got tackled my foot, or shall I say my leg (from my ankle up to my knee) got sprained. I think its actually just my foot (All around the ankle) that got sprained but my leg did get a teensie bit hurt, also heard it crack. Anywho I walked it off and played a bit more and didn't feel too much pain. It was bearable. Now I came back home and was wondering what to do to make it feel better. Im not in too much pain frankly, it does hurt a bit when I walk but hopefully it'll a bit. Im just suspecting it got a bit sprained and luckily didn't cause anything too serious. Any advice on what to do? Ice? Hot water?

Ice, non steroidal anti inflammatories and time. Once you can move your ankle comfortably, take the time to strengthen the muscles around your ankle. With a sprained ankle, your ligaments stretch out and compromise the stability of your ankle....which means you tend to sprain it repeatedly (yeah...I've done this), and it doesn't take much to turn your ankle again because it is unstable.
