Internet explorer will not let me open files..why?
Yesterday we had to F11 our computer (on the advice of the currys helpline) as we had a virus, that has gone but now when we try to read certain stuff ...such as pages from Mail online we get, "Internet explorer cannot open the internet site"...and then we get the full web address, and then it says operation aborted with a big red cross.I thought it might be because we dont have Internet explorer 9 but it wont let me install this and I've spent the morning trying to install service pack one , so that I can install service pack two...and then internet explorer 9...blimey!...I'm just a girl...how do I put at least some of this right?...we have windows vista... thanks

Try this.
Control Panel ► Internet Options ► Advanced ► At the bottom of the page you
will see a Reset button.
When you click on it, it will reload and repair IE for you.

You Internet Explorer has lost connection to the internet.
Please select Tools then Options and then the Connections Tab.
Fill in the required data fields, you might have to ask your Internet provider for some details.
Check if the Network Connections are working.

If you reinstall Vista then make sure that Automatic Updates are turned on and your Windows will gradually update your computer. It takes time - so be patient.
There is an order of precedence that you need to follow, which means you cannot update one part of Windows until another part has been updated, otherwise it will not work. That is why you need to let Windows update decide the order of updates to be installed.
