The Church of Scientology?

What exactly do people who are members of the Church of Scientology believe in?

Do members of this group believe in a Supreme Being?

Does God exist in their world?

Could someone explain to me in layman's terms what their beliefs are?

"THE RELIGION OF SCIENTOLOGY: A DESCRIPTION

Scientology comprises a body of knowledge which extends from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these truths:

Man is an immortal spiritual being.

His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime.

His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized.

Scientology further holds man to be basically good, and that his spiritual salvation depends upon himself and his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe. In that regard, Scientology is a religious philosophy in the most profound sense of the word, for it is concerned with no less than the full rehabilitation of man's innate spiritual self — his capabilities, his awareness and his certainty of his own immortality. Furthermore, as religion deals with the spirit in relationship to itself, the universe and other life, and is essentially the belief in spiritual beings, Scientology follows a religious tradition that is at least as old as mankind. Yet what Scientology ultimately represents is new. Its religious technology is new, its ecclesiastical organization is new, and what it means to the 21st century is entirely new.

At the heart of Scientology lie its axioms that precisely define the fundamental laws and truths of life, including who we are, what we are capable of, and most importantly, how we might realize our native spiritual abilities. These axioms form the foundation of a vast body of wisdom that applies to the entirety of all life. From this wisdom has come a great number of fundamental principles people can use to improve their immediate lives, as well as to achieve spiritual immortality. In fact, there is no aspect of life that cannot be improved through the application of Scientology principles."

DOES SCIENTOLOGY HAVE A CONCEPT OF GOD?

Most definitely. In Scientology, the concept of God is expressed as the Eighth Dynamic—the urge toward existence as infinity. This is also identified as the Supreme Being. As the Eighth Dynamic, the Scientology concept of God rests at the very apex of universal survival. As L. Ron Hubbard wrote in Science of Survival:

“No culture in the history of the world, save the thoroughly depraved and expiring ones, has failed to affirm the existence of a Supreme Being. It is an empirical observation that men without a strong and lasting faith in a Supreme Being are less capable, less ethical and less valuable to themselves and society....A man without an abiding faith is, by observation alone, more of a thing than a man.”

Unlike religions with Judeo-Christian origins, the Church of Scientology has no set dogma concerning God that it imposes on its members. As with all its tenets, Scientology does not ask individuals to accept anything on faith alone. Rather, as one’s level of spiritual awareness increases through participation in Scientology auditing and training, one attains his own certainty of every dynamic. Accordingly, only when the Seventh Dynamic (spiritual) is reached in its entirety will one discover and come to a full understanding of the Eighth Dynamic (infinity) and one’s relationship to the Supreme Being.

Here’s a factual description of the Scientology religion for you:

    Definition:

The term Scientology is taken from the Latin word "SCIO" : which means, in the fullest sense of the word, "knowing", and the Greek word "LOGOS" which simply means "study of". Literal meaning “knowing how to know”.

The subject of Scientology is further defined as :

"the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life. "

Scientology is a new religion. Less than 60 years old.It is an applied religious philosophy. By “applied” is meant that it is for use in life and living to improve the conditions of existence.

Scientology is not belief or faith based. In Scientology a truth is only true if it’s true for you, according to your own observation and experience .

It does acknowledge the principle of God or the Infinite but does not try to define or describe this principle, leaving it up to the individual.

It is also not a messianic religion. This means there is no worship of prophets or messiahs or gods.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a thing you have but what YOU actually are.

Scientology believes or considers that Man is basically good. This is different from many religions that promote that he his natively evil or bad unless “made” good.

Scientology’s closest spiritual ties with any other religion are with Orthodox (Hinayana ) Buddhism with which it shares an historical lineage. But the relationship is based mainly on friendship and the recognition of the being as a spirit rather than any organizational ties.

L.Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and spiritual technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 4,000 tape recorded lectures.

More than a belief system, Scientology is as L. Ron Hubbard describes, an applied religious philosophy. It isn't just something one "believes in" but something one does. It has a way of being very applicable to life, and one of the principle in Scientology is that nothing is true for you unless you have experienced it yourself and it's true based on your observation.

God is not defined in Scientology (is a human, is a girl, is a boy, is this, is that) and there is not story about God that a person has to believe in, but it does aknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being, absolutely. The theology of the religion is based upon the assumption of the existence of God, it just doesn't try to define it for the individual. It is said that the more a person increases his awereness about life, himself and others and the more he will be able of having a personal understanding of God.

Scientology is an organization and business. They hide behind being called a religion to avoid paying taxes and scientology has lots, and lots, and lots of money and they want more, more more. Imagine how awesome it would be if they paid their fair share in taxes.

There is a wiki article on Ron Hubbard (the founder of Scientology). It is a good place to start.

They are sociopaths. Don't say you weren't warned.

You spelled "cult" wrong. It's not a religion, it's an abusive business masquerading as a religion (so eloquently described by the German government). It's expensive to be a Scientologist.
