I have answered a lot of pet questions, now i need advice.?

Hello I have an 18 month old mix breed dog. I rescued him and his eyes were barley open. The mother was pit bull , and the father,s were German Shepard and Great Dane. He has more of Great Dane and Shepard more than Pitt Bull. But he has a temper when he is sleeping, or if you touch him when he sleeps. He has already attacked me in the middle of the night, while we were sleeping. I had to pry his jaws off my chin. I know that he did not do it on purpose. I had to wake my husband up to help me to stop the bleeding. But he has a nasty temper. If he does not want to be touched he will growl at you. I have a friend getting ready to come work with him. She has a Great Dane. Any good answers.

Look, you might be already knowing the fact that no matter what the breed is, a dog can be made social and docile with the proper training suited to his type. So there is no point in discussing which breed is to be banned and which one is not to be.

Now let us consider the problem you are facing. First mistake you made was when you brought home a puppy without having much idea about his behavioral pattern (you did a noble thing but it is a strict no no if you want to have a dog as a part of the family). Second mistake you are making is by keeping a dog who seems to be very sensitive and has a uncontrollable tendency to attack within the sleeping quarters of your home (leave alone the fact that such an animal should never be kept in a home). Crossbred or mixedbreds are always very unpredictable and hence difficult to train if you are not a professional. Your dog is no different. I am dead against the idea of laying down a pet but your dog is a serious threat, to strangers and to his owner as well. Keeping in mind the consequences of keeping such a pet, you better take the help of a professional trainer rather than relying on the help offered by some friend. This is another bad idea, because if your friend fails, the dog wins and this will boost his confidence. And if you keep on asking every friend of yours to intervene then think where the dog will end up if they were unable to find success in training the dog. So take my opinion and rush to a professional and see what he has to say.

You need to start working with professionals if you want to change this dog's behavior, he has learned that he gets you to back off by acting aggressively and he wakes in a defensive mode which needs to be altered but a trainer who has lots of experience with training aggressive breeds is going to be your best option. If you are not willing to spend the money for the training this dog requires than you have to be willing to accept the fact that you will need to find him a home with someone willing to take on the training or you will have to put him down. He needs a lot of work behaviorally for you to be safe and for him to be a well adjusted dog.

I agree re advice from professional. Not a friend for advice. Get someone the caliber of Cesar Milan ... dominant dogs very difficult to train for the inexperienced. It will take a strong hand and a lot of consistency. Your dog can be rehabilitated but it will take a lot of effort, skill and time. Good luck ~

A pit bull is like a wolf...always trying you to see who's boss(not all of them but it looks like

yours is one) so if you can deal/w it, grab him when he growls at you and put him down on his

back with your arm across his throat and keep him there for 15 or 20 minuits. He won't again.

Not choking him but just not letting him move. Ask the person who you know about it.

Put him to sleep.pit bulls should be banned from being bred.german shepards should never be bought or taken in as a family pet.great Danes well, that's just self explanatory.i love German shepards but only when I see them in action in their law enforcement role.i love Great Danes as while watching some poor sucker being dragged across the park by one.i hope ur dog never hurts you or your family on purpose or by accident.good luck.
