A question about bleach?

Zangetsu IS the name of Ichigo's true Zanpakuto - it's just that the guy in Ichigo's Inner World isn't Zangetsu the Zanpakuto.

[Spoilers if you haven't read the Thousand-Year Blood War arc]

After Ichigo's Bankai breaks, he goes to the Royal Palace to repair it, since the "father of all Zanpakuto", Nimaiya, is there. Nimaiya says that he can't reforge Ichigo's Zanpakuto because Ichigo doesn't know enough about who he really is. After Ichigo goes back home and has his father tell him the history of what happened with his mother, Ichigo returns to the Palace. He goes to his Inner World and confronts "Old Man" Zangetsu, who reveals that he isn't really Zangetsu at all - Ichigo's true power comes from the Hollow within him.

Ichigo accepts that he is who he is, and eventually forges a new dual-wielded Zanpakuto based off of his Shinigami/Hollow power, as well as his Quincy power: http://www.mangapanda.com/bleach/542/12

From what I understood:

"Zangetsu" is actually Ichigo's Quincy power, whereas Hollow Ichigo is Ichigo's -real- Shinigami power. "Zangetsu" initial goal was to prevent Ichigo to become a Shinigami, however as the story progresses "Zangetsu" eventually supported him.

When Ichigo got control over Hollow Ichigo, you could say he "gained control" of his true shinigami abilities, but because he was using his Quincy powers before he lost them (i.e. via Final Getsuga Tenshou), his "real" Zanpakuto really didn't have a genuine shape or a "proper name" until recent chapters (in which his genuine Zanpakuto takes form of a dual-shaped weapon. This most probably symbolises his Quincy and Shinigami powers).

You'd want to read CHAPTER 540 + 541 this tells you the story of Ichigo's Zanpakuto :)

Turns out Ichigo is half Quincy. His hollow is Zangetsu. The one we always thought was Zangetsu was the manifestation of his Quincy powers. He has his Zanpakuto reforged, and both his hollow and his Quincy powers take the form of swords. He now has two Zanpakutos; which the man who reforged them refers to as "Those Zangetsus."
