Should I go to doctors for suspected depression?
I think I have depression as I have researched and appear to have many of the symptoms and looking back have had them on and off for some time. However yesterday whilst extremely low and on the verge of deciding to make and an appointment coming Monday it was like a switch had been turned. I just felt not so bad, now I am indifferent not happy not sad but certainly not like I was and makes me wonder if I was depressed at all. But I a am sure I have been unwell for many months. Feel so confused. I have a nonblood relative who has depression and when he is not depressed he is convinced he is cured so wondering of I am thinking like him?..
I don't know, does the fact I am reasoning on it like this mean I don't have it? So confused don't know what to do..
Sorry seems I have rambled a bit :l

YES!! Only a doctor can diagnose your symptoms. However, he/she may just think your stressed and need to relax. Your not like anyone else but you are your own person. If you do feel depressed call 211. They have counselors and agencies to assist you if you need it.

How long have you been this way? (6-9months) straight nonstop is definitely depression. Before you set up an appointment, I advise you take one of those free only diagnose test or survey. I took one and it said I need to speak with a professional. I still have not made my appointment, but I have been depressed since November of last year, and it have not gone away. Six months ago I became unemployed, not having a job isn't helping my case. I'm too broke to afford a legitimate psychologist.

Yes! Its a doctors job to help you. You shouldnt feel like you have to suffer. They can offer you medication and therapy. I went to the doctors because of my anxiety and panic attacks, and was reffered to CBT(cognitive behavioural therapy). The therapist then said i had symptoms of depression and i hadn't even realised. I felt relief that somebody properly understood how i felt and could reassure me.
