Should I put my 5 year old in cub scouts?

i am an eagle and actually only started in the last year of cub scout but its a great program to help boys learn to be leaders

truthfully boys scout is much more useful but starting him in cub scout will get him into the idea and if he makes friends and they both go to the same troop then he will be motivated to stay in it

I joined Sparks when I was 5, it's part of the Girl Guides lineage. And I stayed with the program until I was 14. Girl Guides and Scouts are such great programs! I learned so many life skills; I loved going camping, doing the arts and crafts home-Ec type stuff, selling the cookies, and singing songs. I don't know exactly what goes on in Scouts, but I know learning about the wilderness, camping, survival skills, cooking, woodworking, and all sorts of things are covered. Maybe not in lion cubs specifically, but if he keeps with the program, he'll learn tons and it will be so much fun for him!

Scouts only meet for an hour once a week.

It's a great program, especially for kids whose parents are too lazy to spend any time with them.

My advice would be to wait until your child is older. Five years old is a little young for Cub Scouts. Cub Scouts do crafts and stuff and play at a higher level than 5 year olds, even very smart 5 year old children. I would wait. Even very brilliant 5 year olds need time to be 5 years old.

Yup it is great idea but you have to wait until your child is older.It is basically a racing game related to boys between the age group of eight to ten years to explore their innovative ideas through different kind of activities. It is best for boys.
