You will not pay any fees just to drive your car to Boston. US Customs and Immigration will not ask for anything other than proof of identity (your license will suffice) and maybe your car registration.
Once you move then you need apply to register your car in Massachusetts and you will pay the registration and license plate fees (MUCH lower than those in Canada). Massachusetts also requires that you buy injury insurance.

You must have your passport with you in order to cross the boarder and the papers proving that you are moving. I have crossed into Canada and back into the US many times.
To the second answer you can't tell them that you are on vacation if you are really not because they have way of checking on those things and such a lie like that can get you deported back to Canada.
You MUST have a passport to get into the US it is the law now. Also make sure you have other documents proving your move to the US.
Also you may not want to bring your car here to Boston because parking is always a wicked big pain. Your best bet is to sell your car and fly to boston that way you can use public transportation and only rent a car when you really need it. You will save a lot more money that way.

You need a letter from the manufacturer stating that the car meets US standards (most Canadian cars do) and maybe an EPA test. See the web sites below for details.

I should think that the title, proof of insurance, driver's license, and passport would be sufficient; though you might want to call ahead to the Boston DMV to find out.

Simply say you are on vacation . That will get you thru without any cost . Once you get there you can take the next steps necessary .
