It's clingy and manipulative. Girls like the first kind of nice, and they hate the second kind.

Be nice to her. Show her a good time. But also, at every stage of the game, from saying "hi" for the first time till you're waking her down the isle, be willing to accept that this may not turn out the way you want it to. In this way you show your respect for the other's wishes, and your flexibility to deal with all the problems and complications a relationship can throw at one, the ability to compromise and adapt.
