Question about Catholic Relic?

Hello, I was hoping someone could tell me about a Catholic Relic. There was a death in the family and my great aunt is now in possession of some kind of relic... She doesn't know what it is, and neither do I (We're both Nondenominational).

It's a solid gold medallion, the front had a picture of Pope Joannes XXII, and the back has a small red area with some kind of tiny white cloth in it which is covered by glass.

The front says "JOANNES XXII PORT MAX ITALY"

The back says "EX INDUMENTIS" and below that is a cross that looks like the Templar Cross, and "ITALY" again.

I have been searching for similar pieces online but all of them have the word "TERRA" on them, and are slightly different at the border. I'm afraid I don't have a picture... But could someone tell me what this piece is? Should I try to find a Catholic Priest to ask about it? I would be afraid that he would be offended by a protestant coming to ask a question...

Any help at all would be much appreciated, and thank you for reading!

Update:

I just want to know what it IS! It's against Church law to sell a relic! I might not be Catholic but I'm not planning to disrespect anyone's religion.

Be grateful it is a medallion. When my aunt died she left a cousin a holy relic that was the finger bone of a saint. My cousin threw it out in the trash. Then another cousin who is devout asked about it and freaked out over it being thrown in the trash.

I was told my aunt had paid a few thousand dollars for the thing. Do take it to a priest and find out all you can. You might have something worth a lot of money to sell on Ebay.

the catholic church is famous for it's sale of "relics" and talismans of all sorts

as far as identifying it, I expect you can narrow it down with more research and a picture of it.

an average priest may or may not know what it is exactly depending on whether he has much experience in the commercial aspects of his religion.

it's probably a piece of a pope's clothing, maybe even worth some money if you can find someone versed in the collecting of such things.

It sounds old. I would take it took a priest, they can't be offended if you have a question about their religion
