On Islam, Is ALLAH the God of the Jews and Christians or not?

Was Prophet Mohammad reciting about God of the Hebrews and Christians or Is Allah the God of the Moon? Everyone I know who is Christian says Allah is the ancient Moon God, and the people back then used the moon cycles as part of its rituals to Allah the Moon God. Is this true? Because in the Quran, It seems to me, that Allah being spoken of by Prophet Mohammad , is the same God that he refers to the Jews and Christians believing in.

Update:

@ thewaytogo and @ bobijo, You are both so very convincing, and you are both at total opposite ends of the spectrum. I see the truth in bobijo, but again, i see truth in thewaytogo's answer. What is all this about Allah being Baal? and what is this about Mohammad being Satan? And why is this 'out there' and people believe this? And yes, there is a problem these days with people filled with fear. It is a shame to waste on fear, when we could be loving and giving and trusting each other. Of course Jewish have their names of God, and so did the American Native Indians, But does that make Jewish the only right ones? Does that make my Cherokee grandfather a terrorist for calling God ' Great Spirit' ? ( and they have other names too, that sound much like YWHWEH) Does that mean that we can't call God what we feel in our hearts?

Update 2:

OT scholar John Bright interestingly points out that,“All of the patriarchal narratives were written from the point of view of Yahwistic theology, by men who were worshippers of Yahweh; whether they used the name or not, they had no doubt that the God of the patriarchs was actually Yahweh, God of Israel, whom the patriarchs, whether consciously or unconsciously, worshipped. Yet, there is also internal evidence in the text that the Patriarchs also knew God as Yahweh before Moses (or at least “Yah”) but did not fully understand the full extent and meaning of the name until that time. [3]

One of the main (but certainly not the only) differences between God (OT – Yahweh) and Ba al, El is that, whereas the Canaanite “gods” have theogony’s (myths of their origins) such as the Baal Epic of Ugarit & others; the God of the OT has no origin. His name means “I AM.” There is no theogony for Yahweh because He has no beginning. He IS. Genesis begins with Him alone.. “In the beginning God...” (Gen.

Update 3:

Another difference is that when God (Yahweh) creates, He speaks creation into existence, rather than having to fight a dragon or monster, or some other “god” in a cosmic battle for power. The Canaanite & other pagan “gods” all have to fight or go to war[4] to create, whereas God (Yahweh) merely speaks all things into existence by the power of His word (Gen. 1)

Update 4:

*** A lot of thumbs down here. Just fyi, i don't thumbs down people for their ideas. I do give thumbs up for ones i agree with tho.

No, ALLAH is not the moon god. In Islam, there is no such thing as a 'Moon God'. Muslims believe that ALLAH is the creator of the whole universe, which of course includes the moon. But the moon is very important to muslims, as the islamic calender is based on the moon and religious celebrations such as Eid is based on when the sighting of the moon during a certain month.

It is not.. the Jewish and Christian God is one and the same and He has many actual names ..some are here..they give us a glimpse of Gods identity..

    El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty)

El Elyon (The Most High God)

    Adonai (Lord, Master)

    Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah)

Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)

    Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)

Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)

Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)

Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)

Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)

    El Olam (The Everlasting God)

    Elohim (God)

    Qanna (Jealous)

Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)

Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)

Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)

but above all HIS name is.. I AM THAT I AM

not allah... The Arabic name for “God” is the word “al-ilah.” It is a generic title for whatever god was considered the highest god. Different Arab tribes used “allah” to refer to its personal high god. “Allah” was being worshipped at the Kaa’ba in Mecca by Arabs prior to the time of Mohammed. It was formerly the name of the chief god among the numerous idols (360) in the Kaaba in Mecca before Mohammed made them into monotheists. Historians have shown that the moon god called “hubal” was the god to whom Arabs prayed at the Kaa’ba and they used the name “allah” when they prayed.

Why muslims decided to change God's name to "allah" i don't know, but knowing that God is a Jealous God (Qanna (Jealous) makes me wonder why would he ever accept the same name given to a "moon god".. He would not want to share that name with a false god.. therefore He cannot be one and the same...

.Interestingly, not many Muslims want to accept that Allah was already being worshipped at the Ka'ba in Mecca by Arab pagans before Mohammed came. Some Muslims become angry when they are confronted with this fact. But history is not on their side. Pre-Islamic literature has proved this.” (G. J. O. Moshay, Who Is This Allah? (Dorchester House, Bucks, UK, 1994), pg. 138).

The inheritance of Abraham went to his son Isaac, and from Isaac the inheritance went to Jacob (Israel), and from Jacob (Israel) to his sons which are the 12 tribes of Israel. This is the legacy of Judaism and Christianity originated from Judaism in which Christians believe they have inherited this legacy through Jesus even though they are not Jewish.

In Islam it's taught that Abraham's ineritance went to Ishmael not to Isaac. The other thing Jews and Christians don't recognize Muhhamd as a prophet of God. The Jews and Christians look to God as a Father and themselves as His children. The Muslims look to God as their Master and as themselves His servants. Of course even the Jews and Christians disagree about things. Like the Jews don't recognize Jesus as the Son of God or even as the Messiah.
