Somehow, Christian right wingers in the USA have connected Jesus, with guns, hatred of gays, and sex being bad. but they think Obama is crazy.

You would probably call me a "Gun Nut" I own more than my share, in every stripe and style. However I am not against being asked if I've ever been committed for evaluation. If I buy from a FFL dealer they run me through an instant background check. I'm okay with that, I'm clean. What gets me hung up is some of the legislation bans me from selling my guns without going through a FFL dealer. So once I own a gun, or if my buddy has a gun I want, I don't think I should have to pay a fee to the government to do a private sale. The answer? Set up a "Private Sales" phone line and let me call for free to see if a gun can be transferred to another person.

Nope, only the Democrats would be adversely affected by it by criminal background checks and mental health checks.

The conservative are for upholding the right of tghe people to keep and bear arms, which is defined as an inalienable right, and the government forbidden by the constitution from interfering with it. The government should not be able to afflict their own people, but as we can see, Democrats are VERY in favor of harming all the people of the United States by disarming them and leaving them defenseless.

The point is, the government is the employee of the citizen in the USA. The citizen is not the "subject" to the government.

Globally required Criminal background checks presume guilt on all citizens unless they can prove their innocence. but it also creates an undue burden. How many background checks per year are enough?

Shouldn't a person have to pass a Criminal Background check to buy a car, then? After all, Cars are used in more violent crimes than guns are.

You see, the liberal democrats continue to find more and more ways to burden innocent civilian citizens. Burdens, taxes, regulations, controls....with a broad paintbrush, taking more and more liberties and rights away.

But the same liberal democrats continue to completely abdicate their duty in office to enforce the laws on the books, like deporting and incarcerating illegal alien cxriminals, as Obama has mmade an executive order against. As well as failing to secure the borders, and failing to hold criminsals accountable for their crimes.

We oppose them because those laws are only aimed at law-abiding people.

Example. We have universal background checks here in CA. When I bought one from a private seller, both he and I had to go find a licensed dealer willing to do this for us. We both had to go down there, show our IDs, fill out paperwork, and I had to pay $35 extra for the service (the dealer's time + the background check fee).

However, if we were criminals, I would have handed him money and he would have handed me a gun, and we both would have ignored the law completely.

Universal Background Checks won't work simply because criminals will choose to ignore the law.

Not at all. Most people who legally own firearms are law abiding citizens with no criminal convictions. They just don't like the limitations on their 2nd Amendment rights, nor do they like giving up their privacy. For instance, the State of New York lists the names and addresses of all gun owners and posts it for public viewing. (That screams "rob me, and take my guns for illegal use".)

I am pro 2nd Amendment. I do not mind a basic criminal background check. However, I do mind being asked what prescription medications I take (and yes, some states do ask this).

What "law abiding gun owners" don't want is a bureaucrat deciding who has mental health issues and should not receive a gun instead of a qualified medical professional making that decision. Getting professional help does not mean you are a mass murderer that will go on a killing spree if you have a gun.

No they just don't think we need more laws, We (as a whole) keep asking for more laws and at this rate of making new laws they are chiseling away at our civil liberties. As far as guns are concerned we have enough laws if we had enough personnel to enforce them.

background checks already exist, you anti-gun nuts should stop pretending that is what you are trying to get passed

Yes and let me tell you a secret. The mental health system in this country is corrupt.
