How to get a child back to sleep?
My daughter is 4yr old. Wakes to use bathroom around 4am, won't go back to sleep because she's been sleeping since 8pm...so basically she's had a full nights sleep..to her anyway. To me there's still three more hours of sleep to be had. But she won't go back to sleep! She even just lays there and I fall back asleep and she wakes me up saying it's time to get up. How can you force someone to sleep when they're not tired...maybe I should just get up with her and start our day but by 4pm..she's one cranky girl. Any suggestions....

I'd suggest keeping her up a bit later- maybe till 9pm, and make sure she has nothing to drink after 7pm at the latest, and that she goes to the bathroom right before bed.
It's great that she wakes up to pee - lots of 4-year-olds still wet the beds at night or have to wear pullups, but obviously frustrating that she can't get back to sleep. By keeping her up later and restricting her fluids, perhaps she'll wake at 5am rather than 4.. and as she gets older, she'll be able to go for longer without peeing .
In the meantime perhaps you could encourage her to play wth some quiet toys, and maybe even have a healthy snack available for her, and also buy her a large clock, letting her know that she can wake you when it's 6am (an easy one for a young child to learn.
