How and whom to offer a film script ?

I have a great and original story, can tell you its about one famous crazy "doctor" and struggle against Nazism and Communism in Europe (1930-1950s), based on a true story and I would like to try to offer this script to some company, tv or a good producer (in the US), but have no idea how this works. I do not want money, just lets say I am curious how would it go.
