Seniors, have you connected with friends from your youth on the Internet?

Have you gotten back in touch with any romantic or platonic friends from your youth? What was your experience in reconnecting with them? Did you find that they had developed and improved themselves over the years, or did they seem stuck in the past?

There are a small group of us that keep in touch over the internet. I have visited some of them and have not found any of them "stuck in the past". I was able to drive about the US a few years back and visited with many of the people I went to school with. Some of them have been very successful and we have all been moderately successful.

No and I don't think that I want to do so. I keep in touch with just one friend from school days, one friend from a place where I used to work before I married, one of my cousins and my brother. I don't contact any of these via the internet but by 'phone or mail.

All my present day friends are ones I've made since moving house to a different part of Britain from where those 4 live.

I found my best friend when we were kids. Ends up, we've both changed enough that the only thing we have in common is the town we grew up in. Considering neither of us live there anymore (I moved, which ended the friendship), it's like knowing a stranger.

I've also found a friend from one of my moves as a teen. She got the life I kind of expected to get. (She got married, had kids, enjoyed the empty-nester years by traveling, and is on the verge of retiring now.)

I don't know anyone stuck in the past, which is probably why none of us gel anymore.

Not on the internet . Those I cared about are in contact without it. In fact my friend from 5 th grade on is sleeping in the guest bedroom right now as she came up a few days ago to visit. So , yes we are in contact.

I'm thinking of spending my birthday at her house early next year . She is in southern Or. and I'm in southern Wa. We do contact each other via internet too. We are not stuck in the past.

Yes, I have contacted a few of the guys I was in the Navy with over 40 years ago, on some military based websites. I have also been in touch with some friends from high school, over 45 years ago.

Yep, found a few. One just wanted to know I forgave them for what they did to me. Most of who I have met on the internet are new people and a lot better than most I knew from the past. There are some friends from the past who I would love to get in contact with but have not found them so far...

I found several people I went to high school with on Classmates.com. I had not seen now heard from them since I graduated in 1956. After exchanging emails with them, I got together with a couple of them for lunches. When my husband and i were in Phoenix on vacation, one of my former classmates drove all the way from Tucson to see us. I thought that was very nice of him. That was in 2005. He has since passed away, so I'm really glad I got to see him one last time.

Yes, no romantic ones exist but a few neighborhood chums.

None are stuck in the past, they're all successful.

I've gotten in touch with many friends from my youth and alter on facebook in particular. Most of them seem about the same and mostly we share info about our kids and grand kids.

I find out what I can if someone from the past pops into mind, just for the fun of it. We have all moved on and I don't really see a point in rehashing the past.
