I went through a red light and a camera flashed me twice?

What will happen? Will points make my insurance go up a lot? How long do points stay on your licence?

I heard that you don't get points if it was within 3 seconds turning red is this true?

Is it possible nothing might happen?

    "What will happen?"

You will get a £60 fine and 3 points on your licence.

"Will points make my insurance go up a lot?"

It will definitely go up. How much it will go up, depends on your insurer.

"How long do points stay on your licence?"

They are 'active' for 3 years, then 'inactive' for a further 12 months. After 4 years, you can pay to have them taken off. You MUST declare the points to your insurer for 5 years after the date of the offence.

"I heard that you don't get points if it was within 3 seconds turning red is this true?"

    No.

"Is it possible nothing might happen?"

It's possible. Highly unlikely, but possible.

If you were flashed, you might still not get a ticket if they can't ID the car. But usually, they can. Once you're flashed, you're caught. No flash = no ticket.

A little background here: There is usually a 2 sec delay after the light turns red. The reason is that during the yellow time, if you can stop, you should be able to stop. If you can't stop, then the red time allows you to carry through the intersection. Intersections with red light cameras should have a 2 second "all red" interval where EVERYONE has a red to allow those who can't stop to carry through the intersection.

You might be eligible for a driver's safety course. You pay the fine and the course cost, but it doesn't appear on your driving record IF you stay clean (no moving violations of any kind) for the next 12 months. You'll find out if or when you appear in traffic court.

It's not a capital offense. Don't lose sleep over it.

You are done. Three points on your licence a fine of about £100 and increased insurance costs next year. You will have to declare your points to the insurers for 5 years. The will not count in Court after three years but will be shown on your licence for four before you can apply for a clean replacement which will cost you.

If you are lucky they may offer you a driver awareness course (they do sometimes for speeding) and if they do grab it with both hands because you will not get points and you do not have to declare it to your insurers Expensive but also interesting and cheaper than the alternatives

Absolute rubbish, Red means STOP and there are no excuses. You will be getting 3points, a fine and an insurance increase.

Most likely if you don't talk to your insurer they insurance company will file a police report and you'll have a warrant for your arrest for evading arrest which is a felony.
