What is the best home-made way to get rid of house flies?

I know it's bad all over, but in Albuquerque it's horrendous. I know about sealing doors, windows, etc. and keeping the place clean. I've heard of traps that can be bought inexpensively at hardware stores or made from scratch. The best idea that works wins!

Cutting about 3 inches off the top of a bottle and putting fruit and an inch of water in the bottom part and then turn the top upside down in the bottom part and taping it on will attract the flies and drown them.

Plastic bags half filled with water and hung so the nature light will shine through them will repel the flies. They are good to hang on a porch close to the doors or where they are coming in. Cotton balls will repel them too.

Source(s): I have used all of these.

In the kitchen I have small pots of mint and basil on the sill

Flies hate the smell of these

You could also use eucalyptus oil on a sponge or cloth

And place around where the flies appear

But I find those sticky fly papers work the best

Not nice to look at but they do the job and catch flies

Depending on where you are in The USA you can go outside and get nature's fly terminator for free! Frogs, lizards and maybe even carnivorous plants( like the Venus flytrap)

Stop being such a filthy piece of trash, and you wouldn't get them in your house to begin with.
