If a government "shutdown" is so bad - why are Senate Dems taking the day off?

You mean, waiting until Monday to not do what they already said they wouldn't? They said they would not pass a CR that includes messing with Obamacare--period. What did the Republican House send? Exactly that. Why come back a day early to not pass a bill they already said they would not pass? That's like saying I won't go swimming--ever--then go to the water park a day early to stay in the car.

A shutdown will suck, but it will bury the Republicans in a mudslide of their own sh@t. I'll take the pain they inflict with their bad actions to finally wake up the voters and I'll hang in there until 2014.

Republicans cannot seriously have thought they had a chance of extorting the Senate. Harry is a tough little cuss. I like him.

They are done. The house passes the bill without amendments and no need for the Senate to do anything. How stupid would a person have to be to think that they could eliminate Obama's signature legislation without a veto when he is a lame duck? It is over. You guys lost in 2012. You do not have the Presidency so ObamaCare is going on no matter what you do.

They get paid during the shutdown--even if they don't show up. Really, what good do they do while they're there anyway?

If you think being a Senator is the easy life then you are wrong. If you think you are not working hard when the senate is not in session, then you have no idea what is going on.

You got that right, if the government is about to shut down, they should be working hard, instead Reid and his bunch take the day off. Who do you want to blame the government shutdown now? hey dems your leaders failed you and they also failed America.
