Gun-advocates bring up the lethality of knives, cars, hammers and bats. So, what makes guns so special? I'm from Chicago, not Canada--so don't divert.

The new talking point on the right seems to be equal opportunity not equal outcome, but if so many people are born at a disadvantage, then doesn't it follow that there should be a floor below which no one can fall--thereby establishing a starting point that is equal?

I saw a question about Chris Christie and whether he was the most interesting Republican. Several of the answerers used the fact that he is fat (or the fattest) as a disqualifier and insult. I'm just wondering why a person's weight has anything to do with his worth. I don't care for Christie's politics, but the bashing over his weight stymies me. I'm fat, so I'd like to know.
