Is the Tea Party an offshoot of the original Sons of Liberty?

The Sons of Liberty turned a mob-provoked assault upon British soldiers into what is now called the Boston Massacre.  They did this by twisting the truth and instilling outrage and hatred in the people of Boston.  John Adams came to the defense of the soldiers and proved their innocence in court but Americans prefer to remember it as a massacre.  Another favorite Sons of Liberty activity was tarring and feathering Americans who remained loyal to the crown.  Hot melted tar was applied to naked skin often causing fatal burns, this was then covered with chicken feathers.

No, this tea party are more like the sons of anarchy. The radical Right wing group that shut down the government, led by Mark Meadows,  are calling themselves the New Generation Of Tea Party."  Meadows has a total of eight months experience in government and is from North Carolina.
