If marijuana was legalized, how would the government handle it?

It would probably be more like liquor, because then they can limit where it can be bought, and they can require special licenses for the store that carry it. I think we would be allowed to grow only enough to provide for personal use, because at some point they would have to separate out commercial growers, and they could only do that based on the size of the operation. Also, they would separate out anyone who tried to sell it for profit, so home growers would not be allowed to sell their product. The government would have to control all the buying and selling, because the biggest bonus to legalization will be the taxable profits of the growers and retailers.

The second biggest bonus would be not wasting billions of dollars on the law enforcement efforts we have now. There would still be some, because of the tax ramifications, but no simple possession arrests or arrest for gang or cartel activity related to pot.

Of course things would be more peaceful, and MUCH safer. No one has ever died from marijuana use. What kills them is the other drugs dealers put in pot to get their buyers hooked, the fights between illegal sellers, the fights over distribution territories, the “hits” ordered on business rivals in the spot trade, people killed in cars when running from police, and the deaths that come to people in jail by other inmates - even if the people are in jail for simple possession, who knows what psychos they may get mad while they’re in there? All of that would go away if pot were legalized, and the “War on Drugs” were ended, at least in regards to marijuana!
