A car cut me up on a roundabout?

A car came right into my lane and I hat to break and mount the roundabout. My car has suffered a little damage and the steering feels funny. My left arm has been hurting since I woke up the next day. It is still perfectly driveable, just i feel I should get the steering looked at because it does feel really light on the left where I was hit.

When I spoke to my insurance they said that since my car is quite old that if the steering has been effected that my car would be a write off :(. I don't want to lose my car, I love my car. If it turns out it is a write off how much money would I get towards a new car? The cars value is only £1000.

Also as my arm has been hurting and I haven't been able to move it properly, could I get compensation for it? The crash was only a little bump and I don't feel seriously injured but I can definitely notice it.

Any help is great, thanks

Update:

No this is the same accident Haven lol

For the love of mike get the steering checked you cannot afford to take chances with it. If you can identify the other driver you may be able to claim for personal injuries if you have not got his Reg. number. Tough unless your own policy covers you. So far as the value of your old car on a write off I doubt if you will get £1000 for it if that is your valuation

If the steering feels funny it is NOT perfectly driveable at all. Get it looked at, something is probably bent.

If it is a total loss they will offer you what they consider to be market value for the car, reject the first offer. Look at similar cars for sale to determine what you need to pay to replace it and tell them how much you want, they'll adjust the offer upwards so barter with them for the best price.

If you want to keep the car, take it to a garage and get an estimate for repairs, if it's repairable for a reasonable cost the insurer might agree to pay you a certain amount and let you keep the car and get it repaired. This doesn't mean the cost is reasonable to them, it'd cost them more than it would you.

These are questions you should be asking your insurance company. No one Yahoo knows who your insurer is nor what type of coverage you have from them.
