Is there a way to avoid text getting "scrunched up" after a post is edited ?

I often post maths answers, but if I see a small mistake after posting and go back to edit the result, it loses its neat formatting and all the lines run into eachother making it difficult to read.

Can we request that the scrunching policy be changed or that a "no reformatt" option be available ?

I noticed that, it's really irritating. If you refresh it formats correctly, but then you'll typically see that all the + signs have vanished.

I *think* that the actual answer is still OK, it's just the page where it's displaying it that's screwed up. So if you went back and reloaded the original question it should look OK. But I haven't really checked carefully.

I hope I'm on the same wavelength here...

I've seen what you refer to (I think.)

It *may* be the case that if you reload the page (F5 on a PC) that the desired formatting reappears after reposting.

This effect has only arisen after the recent, er, improvements to Y!A.
