Why does the + sign not show in my answer?

Since today, if I use the addition sign in an answer, it doesn't show after submitting the answer. Any clues on what's going on?

    It shows in your question. I think it's something to do with the transition to the new Answers format, although I'm apparently one of the few people in the US still getting the old version. I've noticed some answers have a lot of the HTML codes for punctuation. I try to type them in and they're changed to the regular punctuation marks. + + + a+b &+;
