What do you think that despite the shutdown, immigrant advocates launch major rally At The National Mall?

Our veterans who fought for us were turned away, but this regime has open arms for illegal aliens. dvocates for an immigration reform bill are gathered Tuesday afternoon at the National Mall for a rally and march meant to draw attention to their cause. They had vowed to bring together "tens of thousands" of participants, but an actual head count as the event got started was not yet available.

The rally comes as many federal workers are on furlough because of the shutdown, and the National Mall itself is shuttered. But event organizers still planned to go ahead, based on first amendment rights.

The organizers are bringing out heavy oratorical artillery, from the House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, to veteran congressional champions for immigration reform such as Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a Democrat from Illinois, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, a Republican from Florida, and Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat from New Jersey.

The demonstration, called “Camino Americano: March for Dignity and Respect” began at about noon and continues. It is expected to feature “stories of suffering and strength and demand passage of commonsense immigration reform,” according to the OctoberImmigration.org website, which means they want illegal aliens to become legal citizens so that they can collect welfare. One of the most cherished rights in this country is freedom of speech. This extends to people and causes we may not agree with, and most people are glad it does. Who would otherwise decide who can demonstrate and who can't, other than the government the TEA Party folks hate so much. So you should be glad these guys can demonstrate for something they believe in, as it will allow you to demonstrate for any cause you believe in as well, even though many of your fellow Americans may totally disagree with that cause as well.

The government runs on fumes right now because the Orange Man refuses the House of Representatives to vote on the CR. If he were to allow this, the government shutdown would end today, with the combined votes of the Democrats and the Republicans who are not part of the TEA party.

Deporting a single individual costs us, the taxpayers, $11,500 on average. Multiplied by 11 million estimated illegal aliens, that amounts to $1.265 trillion dollars, money we don't have. Far from it. In addition, at maximum capacity we can deport 400,000 people per year, meaning over 1,100 per day, rain or shine, and in order to deport 11 million people, we'd need 27-1/2 years, so 'til 2040, if no new ones arrive 'til then. To deport more, we need to allocate more money, which we don't have. We could raise taxes, but I'm sure the TEA party folks would demonstrate like crazy if such a proposal existed.

Alternatively to spending money we don't have on millions of people we can't deport anytime soon, we could force them to pay income taxes for at least 10 years after which time those who played by the rules and didn't pull any stunts could apply for permanent residency and get a Green Card. Whether they can become US citizens by 2045 or later is something that has not been decided on yet.

The government shutdown doesn't take away the right of free speech.
