CATS do NOT just go bad any more especailly on cars made after 2000! If you have a CLOGGED UP converter there is SOMETING ELSE going on here! Try cleaning yoru IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE after it is REMOVED from yoru INTKAE MANFIOLD! then cleane the THROTTLE BODY as well ! I USE AMSOI LPOWER FOAM and GUMOUT for this ritual! RUN BOTH CLEANERS through your PCV valve as well! The only reason to replace a CONVERTER is if the car got DAMAGED on the UNDER BODY< or if the seams have RUSTED and now LEAK! A CLOGGED UP CONVERTER is totaly USEABLE! it means your AIR/FUEL mxiture is OFF TRACK! A CLEAN IAC vavle INSURES that you get a good AIR/FUEL mxiture at MOST times! GOOD LUCK!!
