Tell me, have any Christians ever asked themselves why god would insist on his son being born of a virgin?

It's a question that never occurred to me when I was a believer many yeas ago, but has since! Jesus was sent by god to be a man, and then to be killed by other men who were presumably chosen to do the dirty work. Just what mankind, and myself in particular, gained from his death, I have yet to understand, but that's another question. If Jesus was to be a man and die like a man, then why not have him born like other men? I know many are going say that they don't know the mind of god, which to me negates the whole faith in god thing, so opinions are what I'm seeking. Avoid ranting and abusing if you will, this is a genuine attempt to understand.

Update:

Guest, I have curiosity, I need to know, that's part of being human. I suspect that also applies to you, even if it's beyond your comprehension.

I think this is an excellent question. Being a person who doesn't believe in God, I'm sure this answer from the Bible won't be acceptable to you. However, since you seemed to be a thinking and reasonable person, please be open minded enough to see the logic in the Bible's answer to your question.

Because the first man, Adam, sinned, all his offspring were born imperfect, with a tendency to break God’s laws. (Romans 5:12) How could Adam’s descendants be saved from sin and gain perfection? Another perfect human life, corresponding in value to that of Adam’s, had to be paid to balance the scales of justice. That is why God caused the miraculous birth of the perfect man, Jesus, and that is why Jesus allowed his enemies to put him to death.

After Jesus’ resurrection and ascension to heavenly life, he could confidently say: “I became dead, but, look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades [mankind’s common grave].” (Revelation 1:18) With the figurative keys of death and of Hades, Jesus opens the way for sinful humans to regain what Adam lost.

Jesus had to be born of a virgin so no one could dispute his being the Son of God and not Joseph (or another man). Mary remained a virgin only until after Jesus was born. She then had other children - two of whom wrote books of the Bible.

Well first off, God was his father and Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit- Mathew 1:20

Second, Mary was highly favored by God-Luke 1:28, 30.

The fact that she was a virgin meant it was a miracle.

Why wasnt he born like other men? In which way do you mean bc this could mean many diff things.

Like I said he was conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was sent from heaven and humbled in the likeness of men to be the propotiation of our sins.

What did you gain from his death?

    >The gift of eternal life (John 3:16 and like the whole new testament)

    > Rest from our labours

    > A comforter (the Holy Spirit)

    > Fellowship with our Creator

    > Righteousness - 2 Corinthians 5:21

    > A new heart, a renewed mind

    > Death hath no more power over us

Peace, love, Grace, mercy, favor, wisdom, spiritual gifts

"Well first off, God was his father and Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit- Mathew 1:20 "

This just shows why atheists look down on religious people, especially Christians. Last time I checked the person other than the mother involved in conception is the father, IE. the holy spirit was the father. Now you're going to say that "the holy spirit, god and jesus are one". How can they by one if they are referred to as 3 entities? Christians are so used to interchange and combine the 3 they are surprised when someone calls them on it.

It looks to me like Eve being taken from a part of Adam's body. The reason is obvious to me, but you will understand why as soon as you are ready.

Jesus Christ is God's literal son! God chose to bring Jesus into the earth supernaturally in the fulfillment of prophecy, although Jesus lived and died like any other man. Being God's son, He had God's power but did not use it to save Himself so as to offer Himself up to be the ultimate and final sacrifice for our sins. After Jesus' crucifixion, "sin offerings" were no longer required. All that is required now is to believe in Him and to ask for forgiveness.

A common occurrence throughout Scripture is that God does things supernaturally, in part so that there would be no mistaking that He really IS GOD by demonstrating His power. For those of us in the modern ages who weren't around to witness those events, we have recorded history and fulfilled prophecy. Basically, we have no excuse...

As you have deserted the Christian faith why should it be of any concern to you ? You have no future (by your own prescription, presumably) You are a bundle of chance mutations that defy ALL mathematical probabilities. You are worthless ,of no more value than bacteria or plant life. Christ can therefore mean absolutely nothing to you so why worry about his birth and parenthood. Explain what you really want if not simply to extol some claim to intellect Christians apparently lack in your opinion.

Source(s): "Christ died for the ungodly;the just for the unjust that he might bring us back to God". Accept or reject but don't waste your time in a forum you think is useless. God bless you anyway!
