Need help with HP Laptop Please?

My HP Laptop has a blue screen. I cannot get it to start. It's on, but the screen first says, "Preparing Automatic Repair". But that's as far as it gets. It won't go any further. Please help?

Update:

I tried tapping F8, Gary, but nothing comes up at all. If I could just get SOMETHING to come up, I know I could fix it. But that's the problem. Nothing comes on the screen except the repair tool that won't load.

    Probally need to Reinstall windows.Start computer and start tapping/pressing F8 until you see Advanced Options Menu. Select Repair Your Computer and press enter, Click System Restore and just follow the prompts'
