Are there many working class people in the Uk that actually support the labour party?

For many years they have imposed high taxes on us, and every year they make all these empty promises

the labour party is the party of the champagne socialists, trendy lefties & thick old tribal voters.

Cephalopod --- before you get your knickers in a twist I dont see the questioner saying anything about the tories/lib dems/coalition!

    edit

you are not arguing with facts, you are exploding over the questioner's perceived love for the tories, even though hes just griping about labour, and even if he is a tory, whats it got to do with the question?

tribal muppets like you who pick a team from the unholy trinity are part of the reason this country is heading for the sewers.

EDL arent a political party either, get your facts right matey.

Most would rather support the Labour Party as it was - because the old, real Labour Party would renationalise energy, water, railways, etc etc, establish full employment through council house building programmes, and put the New Labour hijackers on trial for treason and crimes against humanity.

By the way, taxation is not basically a working class beef. It's a moneyed gits' beef. Is that what you actually are, then?

A lot less than before New Labour. Then again, the working-class would probably rather have a Labour government in power than the Tories or the Lib Dems.

Yes, and here's why. It is true that New Labour is a weak shadow of its former self, but even so, it is still, at its roots about socialism, and I use a lower case 's' to differentiate it from Marxist Socialism.

Any Party in government will be unable to please all of the people, (and let's face it the Tories, (or coalition if you believe it is one), are no exception, but even so, there are degrees in politics of how ordinary working people will be treated.

The Labour Party was created through workers needing to band together in unions to stop themselves being exploited and mistreated by their Tory and Liberal overlords. And even though we have so many more workers rights today we still need a Party which will look out for those of us who are at the lower end of the social spectrum.

If you have ever experienced being at the lower end, you will automatically understand why we still need politics of the people. Higher taxes are one way of ensuring that we can look after all of our people properly and not leave half of them metaphorically sliding into mud, whilst others trample them into it.

Thousands upon thousands of us as you will see at the next election. There are no reasons whatsover for working class people to support the Tory party which, as they themselves will tell you, are the party of the business class - hence blaming the Labour party for a WORLD recession caused by the finance and business sector, selling off, at knock down prices, our national assets such as the Royal Mail, (and previously most of our social housing, the railways, gas companies, electric companies) privitatizing our NHS by the backdoor, cutting jobs in the public sector and throwing thousands into unemployment, outsourcing manufacturing industries to the 3rd World and thus creating more unemployment and then to add insult to injury cutting benefits and cutting pensions which (by the way) have already been paid for.

    You call us idiots. Sheesh.

Haven't you got a full time job libelling dead people at the Daily mail ??

Tax for the top 10% under tories goes DOWN.

Tax under Tories bottom 10% goes UP, every time...taking 1% of income tax and then waking a 5% increase on VAT, IS NOT A TAX REDUCTION for the bottom 10% but a tax increase.

ALSO last year the tories increased the tax for 300,000 middle class people as they went into the TOP rate of tax..along with the millionaires ! who ALL had a reduction of 5%

    UNDER THIS GOVERNMENT

VAT increased by 2.5%, increased its scope to include some FOOD (something not even Thatcher did)

@James, it's not too difficult, even for you, but the only other real option is to vote for this rabble. UKIP /EDL/BNP are a joke.

I note you can't argue with the facts.

Apparently, Mathematics and History aren't your strongest subjects!!
