Would patrons of these restaurants be angry?

if they find this out now, after having eaten and enjoyed the food ?

I can't answer for anyone else but if the meat was butchered properly (has to be to taste good) and was enjoyable, I'd be upset if a) chef did not know what meat he was given (which seems illogical to me because you need to know what critter you're cooking to cook it right), or b) the animals were protected or abused before their death. I won't eat anything that is not killed humanely and had, up to that single moment, lived happily. I guess it depends on the patron.

Don't get me wrong- that's a despicable thing to do to those who work at the restaurant and those who eat there. Many people are not comfortable eating the especially cute creatures (which deer and raccoon certainly are) and they shouldn't be tricked into doing so. I have been deer hunting and just couldn't shoot Bambi because he was just too cute!

no it seem that the restaurants knew what they were buying and if they resold it likely the patrons know but the game warden and FDA did not seem to like it because it seem the meat was not licensed and inspected for resale
